The varied liGHTProject series continues my career-long exploration of constructing three-dimensional forms in order to paint them. In each of these series, I value the light source as an artistic medium to the same extent as the forms or colors. In all of the liGHTProjects, I am challenged to make aesthetic decisions regarding the lighting and fixtures which affect shadows, transparency, and color layering.
The Chandelier series continues my interest in residential lighting within three-dimensional space. In this series, I bend a variety of wires into hoops/loops and circular forms which, when combined, create the nest or basis of the chandelier. I position repurposed clear and colored glassware within the piece and secure them with wire. I vary the wattage and shapes of the bulbs inserted into the glassware. In these pieces, I am painting with the colors of the chosen glass and drawing in space with wire. The result is a multicolored hanging wire sculpture.
